Your Volkswagen Golf’s engine needs to be mechanically sound. I popped in to my friends house for 5 mins and when I got back in the car it starts up but then instantly cuts out. So the fuel sender unit I`ve fitted to mine as a pump attached to it which i wired up from the ignition to a switch mounted on the dash. Car drove fine with full power all the way to work (about 25 miles) and when eaving work, had no issues. Starts then Immediately Cuts Out #1. if you try revving it struggles and then cuts out aswell. it doesn't have a hard wired power source of its own,it gets it's power from the RF (Radio Frequency) pulse sent out by the loop aerial around the igntion barrel. The only warning was the radio went a bit odd, then power just went and it cruised to a halt. There seems to be some life left in your cluster according to VCDS . There are quite a few possible causes including, pressure in tank - if the fuel tank can't vent pressure then a vacuum will eventually form stopping fuel getting to the engine, this will cause it to loose power and stall. This part can overheat causing issues with the vehicle cutting out.
